COMPLETE 2-PART WORKSHOP SERIES
Sat March 22 10:00am - 12:30pm
WORKSHOP PART 1: Vidya Yoga Foundations
Sat APRIL 5 10:00am - 12:30pm
WORKSHOP PART 2: Vidya Yoga Q&A
What to expect:
In part 1, Vidya Yoga Foundations, we’ve planned a balance of movement and discussion to cover the basics of what to expect from a yoga class from Trishten or Kate. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to try various postures and transitions with our professional guidance and, during discussion we’ll break down yoga studio etiquette, breath work and the purpose of meditation.
In part 2, Vidya Yoga Q&A, we will align and assist common postures we practice at the studio. We’ll leave plenty of space for questions and will take the time we don’t often have in a 60 minute class to answer your questions in depth.
What NOT to expect:
At Vidya Wellness the style and type of classes you can expect are movement, mobility and strength based. There are many styles and traditions of yoga and we most resonate with intentional movement and breath.

While full length flows and classes definitely count, daily yoga in this challenge could also be 5 minutes of low lunge stretches and child’s pose or 10 minutes in seated meditation. You’ll pick up a card from the studio to track your days and minutes in practice. As we don’t have classes every day of the week, this challenge is designed to get you out of your comfort zone and start practicing yoga at home or outdoors. This is going to be fun! Class descriptions:
Slow Flow with Kate:
This Vinyasa-based Slow Flow keeps a focus on a low heart rate and controlled breath. After starting with our breath, we’ll slowly work into strong movement, the level of challenge being completely up to each practitioner. After movement and flow this class leaves ample time for flexibility and savasana.
Options for beginner, intermediate and advanced practitioners offered.
Gentle Flow with Kate:
Expect a practical, yoga-based class with a focus on mobility, strength in slowness, and sustainable movement. Most postures in this class will be modified. We won’t spend extended amounts of time on the knees or on the wrists. Bolsters and blocks will be heavily utilized to support the body in practice. Expect a gentle warm up working movement slowly and easily into the neck, shoulders, spine, arms, hips and legs, followed by some slow paced, flowing movement. We’ll end class with longer held, relaxing postures and of course savasana. This class is suitable for all levels of practitioner.
Strong Vinyasa Flow with Kate:
My favorite style of yoga is strong and powerful because through a strong practice, yoga can reveal ability and resilience you never knew you had, and this physical strength eventually translates to every area of your life off the mat making you a more balanced, consistent and whole person. This Vinyasa-based Strong Flow will ignite your inner fire. As always, there will be options to modify down and this class is accessible to all but, come to class expecting to be challenged.
Strong Vinyasa Flow is a WARMED yoga class with the thermostat set to a warm but not extreme 80*F. :)
Options for beginner, intermediate and advanced practitioners offered.
Steady Flow with Bee:
This steady flow is all about taking an hour out of your Friday morning, enjoying the chance to move through your body, engage muscles and hold space while finding a focused breath. A chance to find calm!
Flow Yoga with Trishten:
Flow Yoga is intended for those who want to take their practice at a slower, more intentional pace. Focus of Flow Yoga is on body alignment and mechanics, bringing attention to one’s own needs such as strength building, mobility, movement post injury, or anyone who enjoys a more adaptive and modified practice. All skill levels welcome.
Vinyasa/Yin Fusion with Christina:
In this unique class, we begin with a short grounding breath work practice to center the mind and body. We’ll ease into mobility exercises to gently open up the body, preparing for standing balance postures that build strength and focus. As we transition back down to the floor, you’ll experience deep Yin postures designed to increase flexibility and release tension in the muscles and connective tissues.
The class concludes with a calming guided meditation to cultivate self-awareness and inner peace. Perfect for anyone looking to blend mindful movement with deep relaxation.
Mastering the Inner Gaze: Group meditation with Raleigh
A supportive community experience of study, discussion and practice. Explore and foster new states of mental, emotional and somatic well being through traditional Yogic practices of concentration and meditation. Our activities and discussions are non-denominational and open to all levels.
Yoga + Live Music:
Yoga + Live Music is a 75 minute complete yoga practice with breath work, movement that will strengthen and stretch your body from head to toe, and ample time for meditation/savasana at the end. All the while you’ll be serenaded by instrumental guitar. Aromatherapy included. This class is a treat! Join us.
Options for beginner, intermediate and advanced practitioners offered.

Yoga changed my life…
I started practicing Yoga as a form of recovery and to restrengthen my core after breaking my back. I also hoped to lose weight. I had no idea that a daily yoga practice was going to give me this and so much more. Never having been athletic before starting yoga, this practice gave me mind-body connection. Dealing with a messy mind for most of my adulthood, this practice gave me calm, serenity-of-mind and freedom from anxiety. Coming into it with a broken body, I hoped to heal. I healed and then some; I am stronger than I’ve ever been.
I offer Vinyasa Yoga at differing levels so that anyone can utilize my services. If you've never tried yoga before, I will be able to help you start from the basics and build a strong foundation for a long-lasting, sustainable practice. If you’ve got some experience and want to get stronger, I can hold you accountable to a regular practice aligned with your personal goals. If you would like to experience how yoga can make you strong, I offer power-style yoga classes that are more fitness-centered. And if you’d like to use yoga as a supplement to your normal exercise routine, for added flexibility or better recovery, I can help you with that, too.
I can’t wait to share this practice with you.
